We’ve helped many other business owners just like you achieve more.

  • Thank you for facilitating our recent strategic planning session. We really enjoy working with you. Your approachable style and passion create an engaging environment and help us focus on producing strategies that will move our organization forward. More importantly, I do believe it also had a unifying effect on the board. Our January board meeting which took place two weeks after the planning session, had a much better tone and feel. You will be pleased to know that several meetings have already been held or are scheduled to continue development.

  • I remember when we first met, and as a new Executive Director with a transitioning organization, you helped steady me which, in turn, helped me steady the ship.  The first several times we met, I didn't understand that this was about me.  I thought you were going to tell me what to do, and I felt bad when I didn't compete my assignments.  What you made me realize, implicitly then explicitly, is that this is a dynamic journey.  One moment, I realized that I had been empowered and had it within me to do what's right.

Another great learning moment (on-going) for me is my relationship with the Board of Directors and staff.  After many conversations and analysis of latest happenings, you helped me realize my role in this is to lead and guide and empower others, too.  Through my work with you, I realized that the board is indeed here to help and they, same as you, are there to guide and will help when they are asked.

I am on this journey and continue to see it as that.  Thank you for giving me confidence and business sense that I will use to do good work for the rest of my life.  I will certainly recommend your services to anyone looking for business guidance.

  • Over the course of three months, I went from someone who had a good service and believed in it—but that was all—to someone with a three-year trajectory for a self-sustaining business. My coach didn’t have much raw material to work with (from a business perspective) so for me to have transformed into a confident owner of a consulting firm who is not afraid to ask for what I’m worth speaks volumes about his coaching ability. His insight, motivation and patience, along with his love of teaching, reframed my understanding of what business is and altered my expectations of myself.

  • I was in need of someone who could guide me through the bewildering process of dealing with my late husband's business issues. My coach grooved himself to be the exactly right fit for my needs. He saw me through a contract renegotiation by helping me locate a good Intellectual Property lawyer and he offered valuable insights & support to my husband's business colleagues and myself, until I could manage on my own. I can't thank my coach enough for his diligence and guidance through a most difficult time in my life.

  • Upon getting to know my coach in a networking group, I learned that he is a very ethical person with a well-rounded knowledge of business. I decided then that he would be the person I would call to assist me in the process of selling my small business when the time came.  A year or so later, I made that call. During the time that we worked together with the goal of selling my business, he also coached me with employee issues, marketing, and customer service. Upon finding a buyer for my business, my coach guided me and the buyer through the sale process. Selling a business is stressful and emotional, but my coach has been a steadying influence for me, keeping me sane during the closing process. He is very organized and approaches problem solving in an organized, logical way. He has tools to assist in various processes, such as hiring employees, as well as identifying prospects for purchasing the business. He always follows up each meeting with a To-Do List as discussed in the meeting which ensures that I stay on track to achieve the goal. He gives your problems or goals serious consideration, cuts to the heart of the issue and gives you steps to take to move forward in a very organized, methodical way. Helping you to solve your problem or meet your goal is his mission and he takes it very seriously. He has the knowledge, the tools and the connections to help you to be successful. My coach helped me achieve my goal of selling my business and retiring by assisting the sale process from the beginning to the successful completion.

  • Your contributions to the new direction has been, simply said...enormous!  You are blazing a trail in your field which I think you can be so proud of.  The clients you coach have better direction and better lives because of your knowledge, direction, and genuine interest in their future.  I am thinking of how I could get the word out for what you do is just the coolest thing.

  • The advice and support that I received from my coach in conducting the recent sale of my business was invaluable in so many ways. His ability to sort through and explain legal language and documents, his willingness to meet with me in my offices at times that were convenient for me, his immediate and thoughtful responses to my call and emails, all resulted in building my confidence about moving forward to a successful business sale in a relatively short period of time. One additional benefit to working with my coach is the flexibility of his contract with clients. Most small business owners need short term help to resolve immediate problems and can rarely afford to have a professional on retainer when everything is running smoothly. My coach is able to accomplish a lot in a short period of time. I have come to appreciate what a qualified Business Coach can do for a small business owner at relatively low cost.

  • Our first experience working with a coach was an eye opener. As we drew closer to realizing our retirement dream, we knew that selling our business was a key step, but didn't quite know how to proceed.  Being our first experience with selling a business we were unsure of what to expect, but of course wanted someone with professional knowledge and expertise in this area. Regardless of who we chose to guide us, a concern we had was spending money and not achieving our goal of selling the business. Jerry’s positive personality and enthusiasm was definitely a plus in that we felt very comfortable working with him.  His attention to detail, great listening skills and thoroughness showed in his work, particularly in helping us to create a prospectus for the business.  The description of our business in the document was exceptional and we feel played a major role in the sale of our business.  Best of all, Jerry guided us in understanding an appropriate value for the business, which was substantially more than we imagined it to be.  Business owners need the support and knowledge of a coach when selling a business or preparing it for sale.  We learned and appreciated the importance of a well written prospectus and also the extra support we needed when working with potential buyers. If we were asked to recommend a business coach, Jerry Baltus would certainly be our first choice.

  • In considering a coach, I wanted someone who was trustworthy and who was considered an expert in their field, someone who respected the passion I have for my profession and business, and someone who had the best interests of me and my business in mind, a business coach who genuinely listened to my questions & concerns, held me accountable, and most importantly, wasn’t going to just tell me what I wanted to hear. I wanted complete honesty and explanations for the goals we would set. I wanted to successfully develop a financially viable business to best meet the therapeutic needs of my clients, ensure I could meet the needs of my clients without any sacrifice of my professional ethics and the highest standard of care available. I wanted to build my business, increase the time I could spend with my family, and enable me to increase my time available to continue and even increase my volunteer work in and for my community.

When considering a coach my greatest concern was that they would not understand the unique characteristics of a psychotherapy private practice. My profession has its own ethics & legalities that I hold in high regard, and in no way wanted them compromised. I was concerned that there would be a cookie cutter approach to business coaching that would overlook some of the unique facets of my practice and profession.  I was also worried about another business professional seeing all that I did not know about running a successful business.  Shortly after beginning my work with Jerry Baltus, it was clear that my potential concerns were completely unfounded.

The impact coaching has had on my business and my life is beyond anything I could have ever imagined. It is undoubtedly the wisest financial investment I could have ever made – for my business and my family life.  I have learned so much about myself and how to run a successful business, and our work together has prepared me well to continue to implement the strategies long after our formal work together has been ended. Financially, my business revenue increased more than 100% within the first year of working together and it continues to grow.

If you are considering coaching support for your business, I recommend you talk to clients and/or former clients of the business coach you are considering before you commit to working with them. Hiring a business coach is a very important investment in your business and yourself, and it is one situation you don’t want to fall into the mode of automatically accepting the lowest bid. You will wonder why in the world you didn’t consider hiring Jerry Baltus years ago.

  • As a small business owner, I was doing most of the office work, job scheduling, meeting with clients, estimating, billing, supervising of employees, etc.  As my business grew, free time became more scarce and I was trying to do too much myself.  Jerry helped me focus on the big picture of my goals and then we narrowed things down to determine the best place to start.  He gave me the tools and assistance I needed without doing the work for me.  I plan to continue to work with Jerry as my business coach until I have reached all my goals.  I truly believe that his skill set and the tools that he uses help business owners achieve their dreams regardless of the type of business or work situation.

  • Though I was part of a business system that provided training and methods related to my success, I had a strong desire to grow my business faster.  I needed to learn how to make positive changes and to find out how others perceived me.  The process of working with Jerry Baltus at AdviCoach was a personal, one-to-one approach which is critical for my style of learning.  It wasn’t that Jerry’s coaching presented brand new information, but it helped me understand and apply the information I had in a more effective way.  I believe the  coaching was one of the main avenues that helped to jump start my business.  The proof is in the number of new business partners joining my team since meeting with Jerry and the positive, engaging responses I receive from people I talk to even if they don’t come into the business.

  • Before working with Jerry, we were struggling with an average of only 7-9 customers per day, which was not sustainable, and we had a vague goal of needing to double that number.  With such low revenue coming in, the thought of hiring a coach was frightening, and my fear was all financial.  However, we really appreciated the guidance in developing a marketing plan and approach.  We had been doing a few of the things that were suggested, but having the recognition that we were moving in the right direction helped us to push harder on both old and new marketing tactics.  As a result of working with Jerry we are now seeing customer numbers between 18-30 per day which is amazing!  Although there's still more we need to do as we continue to grow, I can advise anyone considering hiring a coach that Jerry will not tell you what to do, but rather help you, the business owner, come up with the ideas needed... that way you still feel like it's your business and you are running it the way you want.

    – Courtney K.
  • We reached out to Jerry for coaching help because we were looking for ways to expand and needed a marketing plan to help us do that.  The investment in a coach, even for a short time was a little scary, but we were able to work quickly to come up with a marketing plan which is now beginning to help us grow.  Not only do we have plan we feel good about and able to stick with, but it's made us comfortable with our decision to bring a coach into our business.

  • Although I have a good business, it seemed like I was just spinning the wheels, not sure which direction to go in.  I wanted someone to help show me what I might be doing wrong, and offer suggestions of ways to improve my business.  I was hoping to achieve an increase in our sales and have a more efficient running business.  Yet, I was not sure if I could afford a coach, nor sure if a coach could help me with what I wanted to achieve.  Having Jerry as a coach has helped me pinpoint what I needed to focus on with the business,  become more efficient with my time, better understand how to monitor financial statements and the importance of them and has broadened possibilities of things that I can do with my business.  My advice to those considering a coach is to "give it a try."  Every business has different problems that they face. My coach has an excellent background with a lot of knowledge and experience, which helps to make my business a better business.  He is also very down-to-earth and personable, which makes it very easy and comfortable to work with him.

  • We needed coaching to help our employees get an outside perspective.  Often people in customer service don't take the time to reevaluate their sales techniques and level of service. Jerry helped our employees remember why they got into customer service but also helped them realize how to be better. There is a fear when you make an investment in your employees that you will not get a return on your investment but I was very happy with the reasonable fee and reasonable amount of time spent.

    – Mike S.
  • Having hired our first sales representative, I needed to get the most out of him and provide the right direction for him and our company.  Of course, I was worried about cost and time investment and didn't want to drift into areas I felt were under control.  Working with Jerry helped us focus on our marketing tactics and sales approach for our sales rep and to meet with him regularly to set the direction we want to take in the future.  We also developed a critical system for following up our bids in our business.  Along the way, I learned a little more about the attitude of key employees toward the business.  Jerry is not judgmental—did not make fun of quirks our business has developed over the years!  He does a great job of organizing thoughts and keeping everybody on task, so you never feel you are wasting your time.

  • There is a big difference between being the 'technician' of a business and being the business owner.  While I have three bachelors degrees and a doctorate, earned over the course of 8 years, only 2 hours per week for 6 weeks of schooling was dedicated to any sort of formal business training.  Therefore, while I knew I would be successful in my line of work, I also knew I needed help when it came to managing the business aspect of that work.  In "The Four Stages of Competence" I knew that I was "Consciously Incompetent" when it came to business.  So I sought out help!   At the same time I wondered if the coach would be available when I needed help?  Would the coach be affordable?  Would I see an improvement in my bottom line?  Would they be able to understand my personal approach to my chosen profession?  Well I'm happy to say I am no longer "Consciously Incompetent."  I know what the key markers in my business are, and I have a much better appreciation of where my business WAS, where it IS, and how I can get to where it WILL BE!  My advice to those considering coaching is at the very least, give it a try.  If you're already considering a coach, then you probably could use one.  Perhaps your anxieties regarding your business are unwarranted.  That unbiased opinion to confirm you're on solid footing is priceless.  No one wants to lie in bed at night thinking about what could be going wrong, or what could be overlooked, or any of those other worries that keep people up.  It's not healthy.  The reassurance and confidence that you have someone else helping to keep an eye on things enhances so much the other aspects of your life!

  • My business is in a growth mode, and I wanted to manage it in an effective and calculated manner.  I felt a need for someone experienced to walk us through the steps toward our goals.  At the same time, I was concerned that I would need to devote significant additional time and money addressing a coach's suggestions.  However, I am very pleased to find that our relatively little time together has shown significant changes in many aspects of our company.  It has transformed old ideas into easily manageable processes towards our success!  Jerry’s coaching has been more valuable than expected, and certainly more valuable than the cost.  He just makes sense in so many ways.
